“Oh, oh, listen to the music…”
My favorite stations streaming ’80s music.
(Okay, some play ’70s music as well. No harm in that!)
Wave 80
This is my new favorite. The variety of songs played is unparalleled,
there are no commercials, and I love that the station is run
by a cool guy named Gary. He’ll actually play your requests, too! Friday and Sunday night request shows are interactive via the chat box.
Flashback Radio
I’ve been listening to Flashback for over 20 years. They have an exhaustive list of songs that charted in the eighties and you can request one/day for free or become a member for a small annual fee. Programming consists of those requests and prerecorded shows from various DJs. The station is out of Hawaii by some very nice people.
If you have trouble finding a stream that works, try this one.
iHeart80s
Martha Quinn’s new home is here and her morning show is a blast!
She’s one of the nicest people around, always championing kindness.
I was interviewed on her show about my book and her
enthusiasm and kindness were nothing but genuine.
The show is internationally broadcast, but is based in the Bay Area.
SiriusXM
A frequent listener of several of their other stations, I especially
love to hear the original MTV VJs on 80s on 8 and to listen to
the countdowns they present from years past. SiriusXM offers
more ’70s, ’80s, and specialty channels than I can list here.
Fantastic variety! (This is a paid service.)
103.1 Austin’s ’80s Station
A new all-’80s station in Austin via iHeart Radio, you can stream this from anywhere. Fun variety!
Fab, don’t-miss podcasts for the retro crowd.
